A Moment of Joy
Prior to Mass, The Children’s Rosary group led us reciting the rosary. This is an international movement for children forming a life of prayer. It’s a blessing to pray with them.
One of the younger siblings, probably around three-years-old, with cottony curls, wanted so badly to participate that she escaped her parents and snatched a sunflower that the Rosary kids were using. At the conclusion, the group sang their official song, and there she was, curls bobbing, yellow sundress twirling, her sunflower waving in the air. She danced to her own tune, possibly the only one she knows, “Jesus Loves Me!”
Thankfully, no adult laughed at her, but in the first few rows where we could see her, everyone was smiling, knowing our Blessed Mother would be also. What mother could resist?
I wondered if anyone else might be thinking like me, “When did we outgrow our joy at being loved by Jesus? Shouldn’t we all be so joy-filled we can’t keep from dancing and singing?”
Wouldn’t we all, just for a moment, like to be that loved child of God being our natural selves as we were created to be twirling with delight?
