McIntosh Summer
YA historical fiction
The story of Chief William McIntosh, Chief of the Muscogee Creek Nation, is the story of a complex man. Even today his people are divided. Was he a traitor and thief, or was he a martyr and a hero. Arguably one of Georgia's wealthiest men, an astute businessman, well educated and philosophical, he was murdered by his own people in 1825.
The protagonist of the story, fourteen year-old Inman Walkingstick, in 1933 discovers his own latent pride in clan membership and a hope for his future because of McIntosh, whose legend continues to lead his people.
"This book bridges the timeline between the 19th and 20th century. It is EXCELLENT."--Lonnie J. Davis, Cultural Resources Specialist/Historian, Ocmulgee National Monument.
