White Sulphur Springs, WV Greenbrier State Forest
I saw the funniest thing. Entering the State Forest is a small stone tunnel. It’s very picturesque, and not just a little dangerous. It’s one lane, very dark and curved. The river runs alongside one lane inside the tunnel. On Saturday when I left to go to the hotel, a moving van was sitting by the side of the road, inside the park. The top of the van was peeled back, the side was gaping. Packing boxes and crates of someone’s household were tumbled and a wrecked bike balanced on top. The tunnel, picturesque as it tries to be, has a big yellow sign over the opening that warns 15’. Not only that, the road that goes through it only goes into the park, nowhere else. So where was this trucker going? And why did he think his truck could…never mind. As Mama Gump says, “Stupid is as stupid does.”
