Cello Music
I made a little tag with an organdy ribbon to hang on the corner of the 11 X 17 poster for Cracks in the Ice, saying Selah Award Finalist. Someone leaked ......
The lovely lady who shared my table at this event is a cellist with the Charlotte Symphony. Her cello decorated our table along with her book of poetry about her musical experiences, playing, teaching, listening. Off and on she played her instrument and people who know about music came to talk about it. It’s a very old instrument, made by a famous cello maker, has a distinct sound that makes it extremely valuable. They caressed the instrument and rubbed its back, honored to hear it and touch it. I bought her book to share with the poets and musicians in my writing group. One of them asked me, “Don’t you know the cello is called the soul of the orchestra?” I don’t know anything about cellos or classical music, but I can tell you this: that cello made me want to cry. It raised goose bumps on my arms. It resonated in the core of my body. Even I could tell it was something very special to hear. Sometimes the things I learn selling books have nothing to do with marketing, but have everything to do with quality of life.
