8th Station of the Cross: Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem
8th Station of the Cross:
Walk:
Jesus notices the women in the crowd, sad and crying, being kept at a distance by the soldiers. He pauses to offer them encouragement. I recognize the comfort I’ve felt so many times when I’ve been in need of encouragement or forgiveness. He did this for me.
Pray:
We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
Meditation:
How easy it is to focus on our own pain, our own discouragement. Jesus has shown us his particular care for women, our sensitivity and unique needs.
Walk:
I walk on determined not to put the focus on my needs, but on the needs of others, particularly women who are overlooked and often kept apart, where they can’t see the face of Jesus. I learn to be open to their care for me, when I need to see the face of Jesus
