Denton, Texas - Lexicon Conference
The president, Mitch Haynes, had arranged book signings in town at Barnes and Noble for published authors. I had a wonderful time, 2-5 Saturday, sold a lot of books, and the store decided to carry all my books. That alone was worth the trip! But there was much more.......
I met a lovely little eight year-old who has authored some impressive books. She is, of course, an avid reader as well. I also met an eleven year-old blogger who reviews books on her blog. Can you imagine?
I think that may be one of the most important concepts I learned about marketing from this conference. Different regional areas do things differently, involve different people, different types of people, and if you are the one coming the distance, you are the interesting “import.” Folks bend over backwards to help you and make you feel welcome! This opens up a lot of new doors for authors. Leaving your regional conference can be a good thing. Get on up that highway.
