What’s Going On?
As soon as the process was underway to produce this book, I notified all the museums that house one of the Ambassador Dolls this book is written about. I planned a presentation to go with the book, and asked the museums to consider me for a visit in 2016, and the book for their bookstore. I sent them one of the origami bookmarks, which got their attention. I got several positive responses, and tried to pair them for reasonable journeys. This trip is Montana, and South Dakota. Idaho is on spring break this week, so another time.
The plan is to fly into Helena, MT, from Atlanta. I’ll be at the State History Museum in Helena, on Saturday, April 9, doing the Power Point presentation and signing books at 1:30. We plan to tour the area between there and Pierre, South Dakota, arriving in Pierre on Wednesday. I’ll be signing books at 1:30 Thursday, April 14, and doing the presentation at 7 pm. We drive back to Helena on Saturday, fly home to Atlanta on Sunday. Monday I’ll be going back to the airport, while Dave drives home to Buddy. I’m going to Houston to attend TLA (Texas Library Association.) Another great Wild West adventure with a different set of books! I will soon start wearing cowgirl boots. (Actually, when I was competing in freestyle, dancing with my dog, I did have a pair of cowboy boots from the thrift shop. I spray painted them blue for my costume and glued “gems” on them! I probably embarrassed my dog.)
I’ll be blogging along the trip with you, sharing my adventure with Blue-Eyed Doll. I’m looking forward to sharing new vistas, new friends, new experiences, new marketing tips, and I hope, healthy book sales.
Now, on to the packing detail, which is a challenge. Warm weather clothes, cold weather clothes, travel clothes, appearance clothes, costumes, wigs, doll, origami. (I dreamed I forgot my thumb drive with the Power Point on it! A nightmare.) The Houston trip will be packed separately and will remain in Atlanta. Fortunately, I don’t have to lug books through any airports. The museums ordered their books, and I’ve shipped books ahead for the Houston event. I got a haircut, manicure, I’m drinking lots of water. I was going to get the car washed, then I remembered, it’s April and I’m going to Atlanta. Skip the carwash. S’long Pardner. (Practicing Western talk.)
