Throwing Out the Baby with the Bath Water
The song resurfaced from my ages-old-silly-song repertoire while listening to the news and a report on Day 1 of the new administration.
It’s been a difficult year for America because of the Covid, but we endured didn’t we, and even found some things to be grateful for in our life styles, such as time spent with our families, less gas used in our cars, enjoying less-busy days; grateful for our government forging ahead, getting vaccine in record time, helping out small businesses, securing our borders and our safety as a nation as well as peace for other nations, and looking ahead to independence with our own oil; we all had many improvements to be grateful for. There were many policies in place that the new administration, on behalf of the American people, should be grateful for and continue to work to improve and grow with, a lot of work already accomplished for them, and us. More work was accomplished with direct benefit for the people in four years than any other administration.
And then comes the news that President Biden has negated all of it. In one day. Throw it out the window… Anything touched by the former president must go. No legacy left unturned. With no consideration to the thousands who are suddenly unemployed without any notice? Any thought on where our oil will now end up (Canada to China most likely; good news for China), and once again placing our nation at the mercy of foreign powers for our oil? Was there any thought given to the blindsiding of our Canadian neighbor government or what that friendship might look like in the future? It seems like the only thought was not to leave any trace of legacy, at all costs. Throw it out the window, baby, bath water, and all.
Who will apologize to the American citizens in the southwest who were feeling the safety of the wall, finally safer from intrusion, terror, and drugs? The data on the wall and illegal immigration shows it was clearly a successful endeavor, but it was the success of Republican President Donald Trump, so out the window with the wall. That’s good news for the drug cartels who are already on the move. Good news for the illegals who will arrive with no means of creating a better life for themselves. Good news for terrorists who will feel welcome to move about.
As difficult as last year was, I was looking forward to the new one, but it doesn’t feel like we’re looking forward at all. It’s seems we’re looking backward. Things that should have jump-started us into the new year, have been thrown out the window…the window, the second-story window…
